Motorcycle at sunset mood

I have enjoyed doing many hobbies throughout my life. I have worked on several different types of art projects, painting, ceramics, and of course, being a silversmith, that includes designing jewelry and metalworks. My hobbies have varied over the years, sometimes dictated by where I was living at the time. While living in Europe, I enjoyed biking through the beautiful countryside in the summer and skiing the Alps in the winter. While living in Key West, I enjoyed scuba-diving, boating and parasailing. I have always enjoyed traveling, sometimes by plane, train,or automobiles, and of course, motorcycles! So, for now I will focus on the last one, my hobby of motorcycling.

I have always loved the feeling of freedom you experience when riding down a highway, wind in your face, and being as close to flying as possible while still touching the road beneath you. I have been on motorcycles most of my life. Throughout my younger years I was always a passenger on the back with someone else in control. I had many different experiences, some fun, like riding on the beach with the roar of engines ahead and behind you as waves crash in only inches from your tires, during Daytona Beach Bike Week; and some not so fun, like riding on a four lane highway up the coast from San Francisco to Monterey after attending a play on a cold, damp night with a sea of headlights enveloping you from behind. The experience, however, even when it leaves you shivering, is always memorable with a fun story to tell.

Freewheeler and Fatboy

I now, however, enjoy riding my own Harley Davidson Freewheeler. I love having my own ride and not depending on someone else. I have done rides with groups of riders. On one such ride, we ventured down the Oregon coast into California, and another on the way to Reno for the Street Vibrations Motorcycle Rally. Both of those rides and the rally were exhilarating. I have the best time, however, just riding with my husband, who has a Harley Davidson Fatboy (he got it because Arnold Schwarzenegger rode one in the movie, "The Terminator", go figure!) Whether I ride alone, or with my husband, most of my rides are on the beautiful roadways in Central Oregon. It is a very fun hobby, except for the days that forest fire smoke fills the air, but we are in Central Oregon, so, what can you do.

There are many different types of motorcycles and I have ridden a variety of them. I was brought up in Wisconsin, however, and that is Harley Davidson country. The Harley Davidson Museum at the Harley Davidson Complex in Milwaukee, Wisconsin takes visitors on an interesting journey through the history of motorcycles going back to the beginning in 1903. The complex also has a nice restaurant and gift shop. It is an enjoyable experience for anyone interested in motorcycles. The whole complex is an entertaining place to visit if you are ever in the vicinity.
